Auction house
Pickles auctions
Australia's largest general auctioneer — salvage, fleet, government, finance recoveries.
What you'll find on Pickles
Salvage write-offs alongside ex-fleet and ex-lease vehicles. Pickles runs both write-off sales (insurance and finance recoveries) and clean-title sales (government, corporate, repo). Heavy-vehicle and industrial divisions sit under separate sale categories.
How the auction runs
A mix of live (Bid Live with simulcast bidding) and timed online (Timed Auctions). Live sales follow a gavel-driven auctioneer schedule; timed lots close on a rolling per-lot timer with anti-snipe extensions.
Getting started as a buyer
Free Pickles account required. Most vehicle sales need a refundable bidding deposit before the sale opens — typically several hundred dollars, refunded on unsuccessful bids.
Buyer fees
Buyer fees vary by sale category (salvage vs non-salvage vs industrial). See the auction buyer fees guide for the current bracketed schedule.

Frequently asked questions
How can I see how much a vehicle sold for at a Pickles auction? expand_more
Auction Intel tracks Pickles listings as they go through the sale. Create a free account to see the final hammer price for any sold listing, plus comparable sales for the same year, make, and model over the last 12 months.
Does Pickles sell statutory write-offs? expand_more
Yes. Pickles' salvage division (the Bid Live and timed write-off sales) includes statutory write-offs, repairable write-offs, and inspection-passed repairables. Statutory titles can only be parted out or exported — they cannot be re-registered in Australia.
What's the difference between Pickles Bid Live and Pickles Timed Auctions? expand_more
Bid Live is the live simulcast: a real auctioneer runs the sale on a published date, lots open and close on the gavel, and buyers bid in real time. Timed auctions have no auctioneer — every lot has its own close time and anti-snipe extension, much like an eBay-style sale.
Can I inspect Pickles vehicles before bidding? expand_more
Yes. Pickles publishes a viewing window (usually 1-2 days before the sale) at the holding yard. Online-only buyers rely on the listing's photo set and condition report — Auction Intel surfaces both in one view.
