Auction house
Grays auctions
Online-only timed auctions — vehicles, industrial, government, and ex-rental.
What you'll find on Grays
Wide spread: ex-rental and ex-fleet passenger vehicles, repossessions, government surplus, and industrial. Some salvage but most lots are clean-title with conditions disclosed in the listing.
How the auction runs
Pure timed online. Every lot has a fixed close time with anti-snipe extension if a bid lands in the final minutes. No live auctioneer.
Getting started as a buyer
Grays account with payment method on file. No bidding deposit on most lots — payment is collected post-sale via Grays' checkout flow.

A buyer's premium percentage applies on top of the hammer price, plus a flat processing fee. The published rate may differ between vehicle and industrial categories.
See current fee tables arrow_forwardPaying & collecting
Grays collects payment through its post-sale online checkout. You then have around five business days to collect (with a short grace period for interstate or third-party pickups) before a daily storage fee applies; pickup is during weekday business hours and storage is settled when you collect, not pre-paid. Grays has a Third-Party Collection Authorisation form to fill in if a transporter is coming for you. Confirm the current rate and hours with Grays.

Frequently asked questions
How much did a vehicle sell for at Grays? expand_more
Grays publishes a "highest bid" on every lot, but the lot only sells if the reserve is met or there is no reserve. Auction Intel tracks both signals — final sold price for confirmed sales, "referred" for lots that ended below reserve.
Are Grays auctions live or timed? expand_more
Grays is timed-only. Each lot has a fixed close time. If a bid arrives in the final minutes, the close time is automatically extended by a few minutes (anti-snipe) so the highest bidder still wins.
What does "referred" mean on a Grays lot? expand_more
The lot ended with a reserve in place that the highest bid did not meet, so Grays "referred" the lot back to the vendor. The vendor may accept the high bid, counter, or relist — none of which means the vehicle sold at the auction price.
Does Grays sell statutory write-offs? expand_more
Grays' Australian platform mostly carries clean-title and repairable stock. Statutory write-offs do appear but are less common than on Pickles or IAAI.
